A couple days ago I was browsing Instagram and stopped my scroll when I saw a post that said, “Minnesota couples are just built different.” The photographer documented that the temperature was below zero and still the full wedding party and guests were outside for photos, in sleeveless dresses, surrounded by sparklers, and having the best time. The photo was stunning.

That’s why a January wedding is actually a beautiful thing in Minnesota. Challenging? Yes - you might have to deal with a snowstorm. Cold? For sure. It might not get above 0°F. But there’s also a possibility that you could get the most beautiful light snow falling for your pictures.
Minnesotans are not strangers to picking “risky” wedding dates. They do it all the time.
April weddings for a long time have been brushed off by many couples as being “too risky,” but the facts are April weddings are full of massive upside for the couples that are willing to think outside the box. Plus, these dates are WAY less risky than most of our Minnesota year.

As I sit down to write this blog and look into the upcoming wedding season at Legacy Hill Farm every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in May are completely booked. (For reference, you can look at this calendar here too)!
However, just five days prior to the first wedding in May you can still book DREAM wedding dates. For example, you can still get a Saturday!?!
Is there something magical about May 1? no.
Is there something terrible about April? no.
A couple of days on the calendar will not change very much.
However, by being willing to grab an earlier date you may just luck out with an impossible to find Saturday wedding date.
Many couples have been married in April at Legacy Hill Farm and have hosted grand and unforgettable weddings.
Plus, these successful April wedding days were before we had even added our most recent venue updates that have provided additional weather protection to our pavilion with our new gorgeous floor to ceiling glass windows and doors!

Curious what temperatures exist at Legacy Hill Farm at the start and end of our wedding season?
Here’s a quick temperature reference:
April wedding dates = average temperature of 57°F.
May wedding dates = average temperature of 69°F.
October wedding dates = average temperature of 59°F
November wedding dates = average temperature of 42°F
April weddings are very similar to October weddings. However, 50°F in April after a long cold winter, feels much warmer than 50°F in October. An April wedding will feel more mild. Mix in the cozy fire features included at Legacy Hill Farm and you quickly have a whimsical romantic spring ambiance.
